How do I choose the right material?

When selecting new chairs for your dining room, there’s a few things to consider. If you’re wanting to create a cosy look, then a Teddy Boucle/ Emilio chair is an easy way to add some warmth to the space. Alternatively, if you’re looking for durable seats, which are easy to clean, Leather Faux Elmo chairs are the better option. Or if you’re wanting the contemporary look, there are modern dining chairs such as the set of Velvet Dario chairs in the shades of blue and black.

How can I take care of my chair?

Whether you choose a leather dining chair or fabric one, there are ways to help maintain the longevity of your chair. How you maintain your chairs depends on the material you decide on.

For example, a spill on a leather chair can be wiped easily and quickly with a wet cloth. However, with a velvet chair, it is advised to use a dry cloth and not rub. To find out more, read our ultimate fabric chair care guide.

How do I measure for dining chairs?

To ensure you have the right amount of space for your new chairs, there’s a few steps you can follow. You want to make sure there is around 15cm of elbow space between each of your guests.

  • Height of the chair: this should be from the top of the chair to the bottom. For a more elegant look, consider a longer chair.
  • Width of the seat: knowing the width of the chair will tell you how many chairs can fit side by side.
  • The seat height: measure from the seat to the floor and aim to have a 25cm gap between the seat and your table.
  • Depth of the chair: this will guide you to how comfortable the chair will be. You want to make sure that the chair is not too narrow.
